Meet the Governors

Welcome to our governors' section.

Watermoor Church of England Primary School has a governing body to ensure that it has the capacity to improve and raise standards. Ofsted consider the governing body to be part of the leadership of the school. However, governors do not manage the school – that is the job of the head teacher.

Governors are there to be a ‘critical friend’ to the head teacher and the school. They do this by :

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  2. Holding the school to account for the educational performance of all pupils;
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

The current governing body are :

Alison Pine                               Chair of Governors / Local Authority governor

Jo Wood                                    Vice Chair of Governors / Foundation governor

Sarah Fox                                 Headteacher

Rebecca Nobbs                         Acting Headteacher

Emma Palmer-Davies                Staff Governor

Karan Townsend                       Co-Opted Governor

Axelle Volgo                              Co-Opted Governor

Nicholas Mitchell                      Parent Governor

Derek Wilson                            Parent Governor

Ally Castle                                Foundation Governor

Liz Lloyd                                  Clerk to Governors

Rachel Roberts                         Associate member /  RE Teacher

Jenny Hincks                            Associate member / Town Councillor

Local authority governors are appointed by Gloucestershire County Council. Foundation governors are appointed by the church / diocese. Parent governors are nominated and voted onto the governing body by parents and carers within the school community. Co-opted governors and associate members (who are non voting) are appointed by the governing body as they bring a particular skill or experience.

The Governing Body at Watermoor Church of England Primary School was reconstituted on 17th March 2015.

From that date, all co-opted governors will serve a two year term and all other governors will serve a four year term. At the end of that term governors can choose to stand again for that post. It should be noted that governors can resign their post whenever they wish.

At the start of all full governing body meetings, governors are required to declare any information that may cause a conflict of interest or a pecuniary gain, through their role. There are currently no registered pecuniary interests.
